The Southeastern Allied Response Team was formed in August of 2006.  Martins Ferry and Cambridge Police Departments combined their tactical teams and added new operators from Bellaire and Bridgeport Police Departments to form the  large contingent. 

The founding of the regional team had became necessary  due to an increase in violent crime and weapons,  a major influx of crack cocaine into the southeastern region of Ohio, and more frequent requests for service due to barricaded subjects. All of these problems needed responded to with greater manpower  and specialization.

The southeastern area has required tactical response on numerous occasion over the last 5 years.  The S.E.A.R. Team combined with Martins Ferry and Cambridge's former tactical  teams have had over fifty callouts within this short period of time.

All of the participating agencies involved in S.E.A.R. are located on major interstates and drug and criminal thoroughfares.  This common trait insures a steady dose of activity for the team in the future. 

The S.E.A.R. Team is funded through mutual aid from participating agencies and supplemented by criminal seizures.
